Mary Rutan Hospital has been caring for generations
since 1919. The not-for-profit hospital came into existence through a
bequest of Rebecca Rutan Williams. Mrs. Williams left property and
funds to the city of Bellefontaine designating that a hospital be
built and named in honor of her mother, Mary Magruder Rutan. The
original hospital accommodated 22 patients. Today, after numerous
additions, Mary Rutan Hospital is now a 110 bed facility which offers
a range of excellent healthcare services and a constant dedication to
our mission of “Providing Progressive Quality Health Care With A
personal Touch”. Mary Rutan Hospital’s newest additions include the
New Low-Risk Cardiac Catheterization Lab and expansion of our
Cardiovascular and Intensive Coronary Care units. Also, the Ewing H.
Crawfis Imaging Center, which offers the most advanced MRI technology
available in the country, as well as state of the art equipment for
mammography, bone density testing, ultrasound and diagnostic x-rays.
Other services include the Family Birth Center with LDRP (labor,
Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) units, expanded Surgery and Same Day
Surgery facilities, Transitional Care – a step-down unit for stays of
up to 30 days.
While the physical structure has changed many times
over the years, one thing has remained constant - the enduring
commitment of generations of medical staff, nurses, managers,
employees and volunteers. It is this personal dedication that has
always been and always shall be the real strength of Mary Rutan
Hospital.
